I don't know about y'all but winter time I'm ALL about making my home super cozy! The winter candles, ultra soft throw blankets, maybe a fire going?? Or maybe just the Yulog Fire playing on the TV? lol Whatever the case, i LOVE a good EASY winter cozy meal. I found this recipe on Pinterest (of course) and I can honestly say I was super intimidated at first thinking of making chicken noodle soup FROM SCRATCH. Like..uhhhhh...she doesn't from scratch anything that much lol But this was SUPER easy! Ingredients
*Personally, I added a few more THANGS to make it more yummy and flavorful! Just a dap of the following, all to taste!

I can remember the exact moment when I decided I was going to heavily tattoo my body. It was about a year and half after I had lost our quads. I was laying bed flipping through instagram and feeling extremely angry, bitter, and just down right hateful. I felt this fire ball of emotions just brewing inside me and I had no way to release it. Therapy once a week was helping me not be a balling crazy person, but nothing was getting rid of the anger. And I was NOT on speaking terms with God at this point. I rationalized with myself that I needed to make my outsides match how chaotic my insides were feeling. But instead of getting EFF THE STORK across my knuckles, i decided to go with something a little more uplifting, something that I've loved ever since I was a child. Disney Princesses. A lot of people ask how I decided on 8 I have and its really simple. I wanted to get the Princesses that to me were classics. The ones were somewhere in the world you could find their stories on VHS. haha. I had gone to artists who specialize in black and gray portraits and they were NOT about doing portraits on my fingers lol, Which I totally get. Its a lot of detail in a TINY space, and the fingers are notorious for not holding ink over the years. I get it. But that doesn't mean I didn't want them still lol. Id seen it done similar on another girl but much smaller and on the lower part of the fingers. I wanted mine like THUG style if that makes sense lol. After LOTS of research I decided to go with Six Feet Under Tattoo Parlor in Upland, CA. Yes, Cory Millers shop. I had gotten tattooed there many times previously and was really comfortable and the artist I go to there is exquisite! His name Is Neil Wilson. He he an phenomenal artist and tattooer! He specializes in traditional tattoos but anything I've brought his way to get done, he has knocked outta the park! We went over which poses for each princess would fit best on each finger, and then after drawing them up he had to shrink them dramatically! I have really tiny fingers lol. Our first session lasted around 2-3 hours and we did my left hand, 3 Princesses. Ariel Jasmine Cinderella It cost around $200 I WILL say, the pain level....holy crap! This is the ONLY time I've ever started a tattoo where I thought "WTF am i doing?!" lol I remember right before Neil Started he apologized for how much it was going to hurt..lol. I only felt light headed once for a moment but thats it. My second session we focused on JUST my thumbs... and OH EMM GEE! The pain level prior was a 10, but the thumbs???? 45 lol easy! I don't know if its because there is more bone? But holy hot DAMN did those hurt! It took around 2 hours because I had to stop shaking lol. My body was just like Bubba wtf are you damn doing! They came out GREAT tho! But to this day I have yet to get them touched up lol This is the only tattoo I've ever gotten that after when getting in my car I started crying lol My husband looked at me and was like "OMG whats wrong?!".....i just sunk my head and said "That shit hurt so bad." LOL. Pardon the shine, this photo was taken after I had put Aquaphor on top of them. Snow White Aurora This session cost around $200 **I take care of my tattoos by using plain yellow dial anti bacterial soap, and Aquaphor. And I'm constantly constantly CONSTANTLY putting unscented lotion on.*** The next girls to join the gang were Pocahontas, Belle, and Mulan. These we did in one session as well. Id like to say they didn't hurt as bad because I knew what to expect but that would be a damn lie! lol these fools hurt just as bad! Pocahontas probably hurt the most cuz that damn necklace went right over my knuckle bone. This session was about 3 hours and cost around $200 The other tattoos I have randomly on my knuckles are an outline of Minnie Mouse's Head and my Cake Company Logo from when I used to own a bakery.
People ask me all the time if it stops me from getting jobs or anything like that. SOMETIMES during interviews I've noticed people focusing more on whats on my fingers than what I'm saying lol but i like to keep it funky and ill bring it up and work them into conversation. I've never NOT gotten hired because of my finger tattoos. If anything I think it helps people see a side of me they are not going to see from a resume or 15 min interview. There is something about getting tattooed- for me at least. The pain is very therapeutic. Its a type of pain that allows something inside of me to heal. When I'm getting tattooed and if I start to feel pain I take deep breathes and focus anything thats weighing on my heart in that moment onto that pain and it almost creates a state of Euphoria. A Zen like state to where my mind isn't running a million miles an hour and my heart isn't hurting.. I'm channeling everything I'm feeling into the physical pain I'm feeling. Not to get all 12 kinds of Buddha on you lol. If you are thinking of getting your fingers tattooed, DO YOUR RESEARCH! Make sure you are getting something that you don't mind being the first thing people see. Make sure you research an artist who is capable of doing what you want and be prepared for the pain! haha. I constantly get asked about my tattoos, so much so that ill soon be doing an entire series on each one of my pieces, the meaning behind them, and all the artist info. My newest piece came from the incredibly talented Marisol Preciado at Mission Tattoo in Riverside, CA. Marisol specializes in kawaii, cute, Disney, Otaku Tattoos and art. How someone is able to capture the exact image and boldness of color is seriously beyond me! But Marisol does it with such ease. I first came across her IG because my best friend had recently gotten the cutest tattoo done by Marisol and once I saw it I instantly was all up in her DMs haha. Now I have a list 50 miles long of art work I plan/want to get done so when I am able to get tattooed, its not hard for me to find something I want or some up with ideas. But this time around I really wanted to get a tattoo with my best friend. I sent over ideas to Marisol and let her know what I was looking for and sort of described me and my best friend briefly and somehow with all the information I gave her she came up with the most perfect design of our tattoo! The minute I saw it I KNEW that it was just perfect! We had to reschedule our appointments a couple times due to life happening for the both of us and Marisol was soon flexible and understanding! Something I greatly appreciate in anyone i get tattooed from. I suffer from SEVERE anxiety so my mind has to be in the right place to get any kind of work done or else I panic... annoying I know! But Marisol was really sweet about everything. We showed up to our appointments and I literally GAGGED over her studio inside the tattoo shop! Its pink, colorful, Disney/Anime/Kawaii MAGIC! I could live in there! lol. Marisol's style and spirit just bounces off those walls and its seriously one of the most funnest places I've ever been tatted. I looked through her books while I waited for her to draw set up and just fell more and more in love with her work. Here a few photos of some of my favorite pieces she has done! HOW STINKING CUTE RIGHT?! If you think thats awesome, just WAIT till you see what my next pieces are going to be! You are going to GAG! We tried a couple different spots but decided on a place that would be seen more than most. I have such a thing with not being able to see my own tattoos lol Like if I'm paying money for any art work i want to be able to see it! Makes sense? lol Now, I know a lot of my girls reading this who have issues with showing their arms will understand. Its not that I have issues showing my arms, but lets kept real.. these mugs are big lol. From weight loss and weight gain and just being plain sexy AF lol my arms are big! What can I say! So I was a little worried about getting tattooed there, I'm not gonna lie. Would the tattoo look flabby? Would it sit weird once my arm is hanging there? Will it hurt more than normal cuz its like..fat skin? lol These are the thoughts I had... and Marisol answered ALLLL my crazy questions and set my mind at complete and total ease! Im telling you, she is an all around gem! i mean JEM! (Get it, like Jem..and the holograms...anyone?) How cute right?! A Mickey Mouse hand holding the perfect gooey slice of Pizza! Totally depicts mine and my best friends friendship. Disney and pizza! Forever and ever! I love you tony! <3 One thing I will say is that I have never been tattooed by someone so fast! I figured it would take around 2 hours from first arriving to leaving but she literally took an hour TOPS and that is with us gabbing away! haha Marisol seriously has one of the coolest most beautiful vibes and spirits. And did I mention how beautiful she is?! Like blam blickidy blam! Curves of gorgeousness! Im trying to get her to do plus size modeling, thats how serious the beauty is! EEEKKK! Its seriously perfect! I mean the fading of the colors and blending all into one another is seriously a yummy dream! I get stopped constantly and asked about this tattoo, especially at Disneyland! Disney lovers totally appreciate gooey cheese! haha.
Final thoughts?? GO FOLLOW MARISOL! not only that, BOOK AN APPOINTMENT! You will not be disappointed! And I cant WAIT to show you all what my next pieces are that she has created for me... you are going to GAG!!! And OMG! It was seriously delicious! Not just filled with vanilla ice cream, get real! But authentic Horchata creamy ice cream! With walnuts for the perfect about of crunch and a Cajeta drizzle that ties everything together. The mini churros are the perfect treat for someone like me who isn't huge on sweets. If I have the ability to shop anywhere, sign me up! lol I loved that they had children's books that highlighted Important Mexican Figures, Coloring books, Pillows, Purses, Candles, Pins, and everything had an awesome Mexican Culture twist. I purchased the Concha Keychain which everything I take it out people are asking me where I got it! And this adorable pin with those bomb pin wheel chips you can buy from the Elote man lol (That would be the Corn Man for the gringos) You know with the lemon and the chili?! My husband also ordered a small coffee which our fabulous server mentioned to him that she can make it ultra delicious by adding in some steamed Horchata! Not steamed milk, but steamed Horchata! Im loyal to my Starbucks but man! I took a sip of my husbands and it was BOMB!!!!
All in all our experience at HRL was an A+! The service was impeccable, the food was out of this world, and the overall experience was the perfect way to start our Sunday morning. My only advice for future diners would be to get there early because people tend to line up fast! Ive seen photos on yelp of lines all the way out the door! Visit their website here www.horchateriarl.com Growing up without my biological mom around I never really learned to cook. My dad worked full time so I didn't really know there were other food groups besides Round Table Pizza for awhile!
Eventually he caught up and became an excellent cook for me and my brother, but not much of a teacher. Thankfully enough I've been blessed to have some amazing moms in my life that may have not given birth to me, but basically taught me everything I know about being a woman/wife. I remember when me and my husband 1st got married, not gonna lie it was intimidating unwrapping all that kitchen ware and not knowing what the hell any of it did! lol But one thing I learned that you can never go wrong with, TACOS! One thing i love about tacos- you can totally fake the funk all the way through! You can literally buy everything you need pre made and it just becomes a matter or warming up, assembling, and plating! For example: One of my all time favorite taco recipes includes a package of Pollo Asada from any grocery store, Mexican style cheese, a can of refried beans, lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, limes and VOILA! You are making tacos! *Tip! You want to make it look like you did more work than you actually did? Plating! Plating is huge! Grab those serving dishes you registered for but didn't know why, and nicely plate your meal. Cut up some lime wedges and look! Mira! How fancy! *Tip! Don't be afraid to try different topping or garnishes! Your husband likes black olives? Throw some on top! Cooking is all about trial and error! Don't be intimidated! Cilantro, Radishes, Bell Peppers! Try them all! See how easy that was?? And guess what! The best part is, whoever "cooks" doesn't have to do the dishes :) Tell em I said so! xox |
